Good day folks, I hope your day goes smooth.
Take care of your tasks and prepare yourself for the day, it may not be as strong as some days
It had been three months since Moses took the Israelites out of Egypt into the Desert of Sinai camping
at the bottom of the mountain. God sent Moses to the people with these words, "if you obey me fully
and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the
whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." (Exodus 19:5,6) The
people agreed to obey God. Then God told Moses he "was coming in a cloud , so that the people will
hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you." (Exodus 19:9)
Moses was to consecrate the people, meaning he was to set them apart for God's special use. They
were cleansed and their clothes cleansed and they were to refrain from sexual activity for they were to
meet God on the third day.
The cloud came with thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain. and a very loud
trumpet blast. The people stood at the foot and the mountain smoked from the heat of God. Moses
spoke and God answered him. God descended to the top of the mountain and told Moses to climb
there to meet him.
Here are the things Faith Alive asks:
in "Did You Know? Why is Mount Sinai important? Mount Sinai is the place where two important
things happened. God spoke to Moses from the burning bush(Exodus 3:12). And God gave the
Israelites his law there. (Exodus 19-20)."
The Ten Commandments(Exodus 20)
"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
1. You shall have no other gods before me.
2. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form af anything in heaven above or on the earth
beneath or in the waters below. You sall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your
God, am a jealous God, puishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth
generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me
and keep my commandments.
3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless
who misuses his name.
4. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither
you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien
within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that
is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and
made it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God
is giving you.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
10.You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his
manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
Faith Alive bring out this activity:
"Let's live it!-You Sall--As they're worded, most of God's Tne Commandments tell us what we should
not do. But God intended us to understandthem also as telling us what we should do. Each one
is an example of how we may love God and other people. Read each commandment, one at
a time in Exodus 20:3, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17, and then find in the list below what we
are to do to keep it.
We should not But we should
1, have other gods fear(respect), love, and trust God to save us and give us
everything we need
2. misuse God's name ask God for help whenever we're in trouble; pray to, praise, and
3. ignore God's Word set aside a day every week for worship; hear and learn His Word
at other times
4. disrespect parents respect, love, and obey mom, dad, pastor, authorities, teachers,
police officers, and all leaders
5. murder protect others from harm; help them get necessities
like food and clothes
6. commit adultery save ourselves for marriage and then be true and loving to
husband or wife
7. steal share and help others care for their property, jobs, and money
8. give false testimony speak up for others when we hear gossip; assume the best,
not the worst, about them
9. covet our neighbor's house be satisfied with what God has given us and be glad
others have good things, too
10.covet anything that belongs keep pure, loving thoughts in our hearts toward everyone
belongs to our neighbor"
God talks to Moses about extra things as:
Idols and Altars in (Exodus 20:22-26)
Hebrew Servants, Personal injuries-intentional and deliberate in (Exodus 21)
Proberty-stealing etc.(Exodus 22) Faith Alive ask in "Dib You Know? How did God's law punish
thieves? People who stole or cheated others did not go to jail. Instead they had to pay back the
person they stole from--two or even five times as much as they took! This way of punishing is
called "making restitution."
Social doings or responsibility-read this strongly
Justice and mercy talking about many little things-read this strongly
Sabbath Laws in Exodus23 read this strongly too.
Faith Alive asks through "Did You Know? Whos is God's angel? Angel means "messenger."
Sometimes in the old testament though, the angel of the Lord is the Son of God himself." For it is
written in Excodes23:20-32 how he is sending an angel ahead of them
God talk of three different festivals they are to celebrate.
Faith Alive presents them in "Let's Live it!-Church Festivals-Three times a year (in the spring,
early summer, and fall) all the Israelite men were to come before the Lord for special worship.
Each festival was to remind the people of some great thing God had done for them.
The Christian church, too, has long celebrated special festivals to remember god's might acts.
Can you name some of them? Three of the most important are Christmas(December 25), Easter
(in early spring), and Pentecoast(late spring). Do you remember which mighty deads of God each
recalls? If not, look up Luke2:1-20; Mark 16:1-7; and Acts 2:1-41.
Other festivals of the church year also help us remember God's great work for us. You can find a
whole list of them in a hymnal--Lutheran Worship (page 8) or the Lutheran Hymnal (page3).
After Childrobotics, You can jump into Creative Dance with "Lessons Based on Imagery(Grandma tried to upload some pictures children doing this and remembered YouTube and guess what-there is more. Also bring up Free PIctures in Bing or Google. Grandma is holding the lesson for tomorrow. Have fun!
